Statics with Applications [MET 2124]

Module 1 - Fundamentals

Chapter 1: General Principles

Chapter 1 Overview

In Chapter 1, we will explore the general principles of engineering statics with the following objectives:

  • Introduce the fundamental quantities and idealizations of mechanics
  • Review Newton's Laws of Motion
  • Reinforce the principles for using the SI system of units
  • Examine standard procedures for numerical calculations
  • Provide a general framework for effective problem-solving
